Enter The Black Dragon

Posted by Ruok On March - 31 - 2009

My whole body is still aching from yesterday, where I donned on the persona of Black Dragon (literally translated from the Chinese name) for the upcoming blockbuster serial “The Ultimatum”.

Gee, I always thought blockbusters are for the big screen …

Anyhoo, I digress.

It’s been a while since I’ve been back to MCS, so much so that I didn’t even know they have changed entry points for us again. Of course the cool thing now is that they key in everything into the computer, so no more flipping through pages and pages on the clipboard just to prove that we are really here for a shoot.

A surprise was waiting for me in the make-up department in the form of a mole. As if I did not have enough already!! But I had to put on the fake mole as the actor playing the older Black Dragon has this-blink-but-you-won’t-miss-it mole on his chin.

Definitely not a smokin’ moment.

Another surprise was the length of the shoot. Judging from the scenes, I’d really thought I will be done come evening time. But it was scheduled for, and it eventually ended as well,at midnight. I guess the director wasn’t kidding when she told me I had a long and hard day ahead.

Over dinner, she asked me how come I’ve not aged one bit over the years. “In fact, she said, “You look younger and thinner.” I was so tempted to tell her of my vampire origin, but decide to just simply say that I did age and have a couple of white hairs showing already.

The dastardly deed was shot after dinner. And my victim this time round was Cheryl. You would have probably remembered her as the sister of one of the main characters in I Not Stupid back then.

In between takes, I asked her if this was her first time and she said no, it was her second. She asked the same of me, and I bashfully told her that I’ve sorta done this to two other women already. Her eyes then widen and asked if I always played the bad guy. My reply was just a sad smile and a small sigh…

The scenes did turn out to be physically demanding indeed, just like the director had forewarned. If not for my gym hours, I doubt I would have lasted the night.

The last surprise was that this is the first shoot I’ve done in TCS 8 where all the main cast are freelancers. Now, how about that?

Mending The Almost Burnt Bridge

Posted by Ruok On March - 29 - 2009

Sometime last year, I plurk/blog about almost burning my bridges. Over the weekend, a role came knocking on the door, and I was supposedly picked by the EP to do this role.

I liked working with the EP back while she was a director; I think I have done two shoots with her. She’s known to be a demanding director but I’ve always preferred my directors to be demanding anyway. The stints with them have always gave me a sense of achievement knowing that I’ve met their exacting standards.

This is a role I normally would consider not taking; its a baddie role again and I dread having to fight against being typecast again. But due to the incident last year and coupled with the EP (supposedly) making a direct request for me, I think its probably wise for me not to turn down this chance to mend whatever part of the bridge that was burnt.

The drama series would be the upcoming blockbuster(their words, not mine) serial “The Ultimatum”, and it would be the first episode.

I’m just a bit bummed I won’t be meeting the lovely Lynn for the shoot. 😛

One Night In Timbre

Posted by Ruok On March - 20 - 2009

We were introduced one night at Wala, prior to the screening of Nose Job, and I don’t think we spoke long enough for me to make any lasting impression.

But I guess I made enough of an impression for her to recognise me on screen, cuz when she saw me again tonight she blurted out “OMG are you that actor?” and started quoting my lines from the show.

I’m glad she found that role funny. Heck, I even wasted a couple of plasters on my nose just to watch her laugh even more. Which kinda led to an airing of armpits incident in front of a fan later.

Good ol’ wacky fun.

I’m reminded of how I got into this in the first place; making people laugh.

Pants of Shagness

Hello endorphins my friend,
I’ve come to sweat for you again.
But now my vision’s slowly blurring,
Caused by sweat thats slowly dripping,
Into my eyes, Oh that stings, Oh shit I’m blind,
My screams drowned
Within the pants of shagness

Sing to the tune of Sounds of Silence

Over the weekend, I got an email from the director whose short film project I was helping out with last year.

Turns out the first bit of the short film is up in youtube.

Go check it out :

The audio’s a bit weak though. And I guess on its own, the first bit don’t really make sense. 😛

Mused

You all know about that island caretaker job right?

When I first heard of it, I told myself I’ll only apply if I could think up something for the application video. And a few weeks ago, I had this sudden flash of inspiration. Seeing how these flashes are quite rare these days, I decided I should not let the idea go to waste and so I went ahead and did it.

Unfortunately, it was rather close to the deadline and to cut the long story short, the application got rejected because due to some technical fault, the couldn’t view the video.

Ah well. Perhaps its really not meant to be.

Anyhoo, it’s a shame to let see my efforts go to waste just like that. So I’ve decided to put it up here; and hopefully not incur the wrath of the Association of Muses for letting an inspiration go to waste.

Oh, and by the way, I am still searching for a muse. Interested female parties please apply via email. Oh, applications are closed … found her liow ^^
