About Apr 31

Spend the weekend hooking up the new system. I was glad I had these babies delivered, they are freaking heavy man! My thighs felt like they had done an obscene amount of squats after shifitng the woofer around. I think the woofer must weigh at least 20kg.

So far the sound is not bad, but I’ll prolly wait for the speakers to get warmed up before delivering my judgment.

Oh, yeah those are rams you see on top of the box. Prepping my system for Hyboria, hehehe. 4GB of DDR2 500 goodness.

I had a quiet celebration last week, and was really surprised my free champagne turned out to be Moet! It was nice, just like the company I was with. It was interesting showing the 31 April voucher to the staff. Most of them had no idea there’s no 31 in April till I point it out lol!

Best part of the whole thing … no cake!! Finally, a cakeless year. 😀

Sign Of The Times?

Or of things to come?

Long queues for free instant noodles. I think they gave out well over twenty cartons of noodles.

Chomp Chomp

Finally got to watch it, and I daresay its the best comedy I’ve watched this year.

Actually, I think this is the first comedy I’ve watched this year. Oh wait … damn, I can’t remember the first one I watched already. Anyway I digress.

The women in the audience definitely enjoyed watching it more than the men. I guess the journalist was right, women DO enjoy watching men suffer. But what I really loved about the movie was all the hidden nuances throughout the show. Most of them are really corny though, but if you like corniness and did spot them, you’ll absolutely be tickled.

I did feel the movie was trying to deliver a message about abstinence though. But somehow it seem to tire of preaching and decide to heck it and have a bit of fun instead.

Oh wait, gee… maybe that’s what it’s trying to say …

Happy Birthday

I thought I won’t be doing this this year, but what the heck.

I still remember.

Happy Birthday babe.

Zhng My Soundcard

Posted by Ruok On April - 20 - 2008

modded xfiIt seems, these days, everything and anything can be modded.

I just got my Extreme Music soundcard made even more extreme, replacing the op-amp with a LM4562 and a Ruby Backgate (thats the big black thang you see sticking out).

The damage was $55, but I must say I can hear a difference. The vocals in the music sounds much richer and fuller.

Now to upgrade my aging Crossfires. These are the most likely candidates :

American Idol David Cook

I broke my record of not watching American Idol this season, because the talent they have out there simply cannot be ignored.

David has impressed me with renditions of Hello and Billie Jean, but this week, with Always Be My Baby, I have to say, he has definitely won my vote.

Check it out :

And you know what, I don’t know why people are so upset with Simon. I agree with him all the time. :p

Review : Woman In The Dunes

After almost a year, I finally plonked myself down and watch this.

The film at best, is one of those films that after having watched it, gives you plenty of thoughts to ponder over once its over. But to get to this, you’ll have to sit through what is an arduously long pacing by today’s standards. That coupled with the glorious non techni-coloured black and white, I feel this film is simply not everyone’s cup of tea.

The film pacing improves but only towards the end, but its kinda too little and too late. Heck, even I almost couldn’t stomach waiting for the ending to come. And when it finally came, it wasn’t a “woah”, or even a “wtf” for me. It was just a “meh”.

The only really cool thing about the film is the way the sand was shot. Which if it was in colour, would have been even more impressive. But if I want to watch a movie about sand, I think I’m better off watching a documentary instead.

(Another thing is everytime I see the sand, I keep thinking about Anakin Skywalker’s lame sand pickup line)

I’m beginning to question the asshat’s taste in films; so far I feel his taste is like the stout drinker who prefers the bottled version over draught. But yet he makes himself out to be some film connoisseur; well, maybe he is, he just likes films that no one else likes.

Or he’s living in another era.

So yeah, go screw yourself back, asshat.

Divination

Posted by Ruok On April - 12 - 2008

So in the midst of dinner, we were asked to pick a card from a deck.

Mine says “True Love” and “Luck”.

“It means you are about to find true love! Soon! If not tonight then sometime soon!” she divined sagely.

Errmmm. Yeah…. right.

This was very accurate though.

If orange is your favourite fruit; it speaks of a person who has enduring patience and willpower. You like to do things slowly; but very thoroughly and are completely undaunted by hard work. You tend to be shy; but are a reliable and trustworthy friend. You have an aesthetic bent of mind. You select your partner with care and thought; you love with all your heart, and are not in for just a fling.

You are cordially invited

Mail Order Bride

Posted by Ruok On April - 1 - 2008

Ok, I’ve done it.

She should be flying in later.

Lets hope she looks just like her photograph.

**************************************

Of course you must have realised by now the above is an April Fool Day joke.

I did managed to fool one person, however… :

Intimate: mail order bride?!
23:37 me: yeah
Intimate: ….
me: APRIL FOOL!!!
Intimate: BASKIT!!!
me: ROFL!!!!
23:38 Intimate: nabeh
me: hehe

As you can see, it was just past a half hour into midnight, and I was about ready to admit no one had fell for it.

Thanks for making my day Krys. Sure beats the hell out of a “bless” spell. 😉
