A Fortune Telling

Posted by Ruok On July - 31 - 2008

The last time I got approached by a fortune teller was way way back when I was running my lan shop business.

Then, my business was not doing too well. I was having lunch at the kopitiam when this uncle suddenly sat in front of me.

He introduce himself as a fortune teller hailing from Taiwan and started to pitch his worth by stating some really accurate description of my life thus far. He then asked me if I wanted to know what will happen next, dropping a not so subtle hint that I should pay for such knowledge.

I told him that I don’t want or need to know. He persisted; in which I just told him, I believe in God and I believe Heaven’s secret shall not be divulged.

He then plonk himself back into his seat, looking a bit dejected but mostly lost.

I felt a bit sorry for him and started making small talk. He left soon after, still looking mostly lost.

The Return Of Ang Chee Beng

Posted by Ruok On July - 30 - 2008

Truth Be Told will be shown this Sunday, 3 August, Arts Central, 10pm.

Guess I will be on tv again! 😀

For those who have not caught the movie and have not bought/rent the DVD, this will be a most excellent chance to catch a much underrated local movie. All I ask of you, if you do want to tune in, is to not miss the first five minutes. 😉

Note to self : Avoid the coffeeshop at 10pm on Sunday night…

Hidden Treasure – The Telecast

Posted by Ruok On July - 28 - 2008

So this was telecast about two Sundays back.

I’m not too pleased with two of the scenes, and on the whole I think I did okay.

Just okay.

Not my best work by far.

And a high likelihood of being one of my last. So to all my overseas friends, enjoy it while it lasts. 😛

Happy Birthday Zeus

Posted by Ruok On July - 24 - 2008

Happy birthday Zeus St Jude HAMMURABI GILGAMESH!

May Hera never find out about your dalliances outside Mount Olympus!

May Aphrodite continue to bless you with the mojo you need to keep up with the secretary under your desk!

May your bottle of palm oil never runs dry!

May your crappy taste in movies be appreciated by all one day!

May you safely crawl out of the closet you are desperately still hiding in!

And last of all, may you never be offered soya bean milk again while you are doing your “Incredible Hulk” impersonation.

Happy Birthday Shey!

I’ll Be On Telly Again

I’ll be appearing on this Sunday’s episode of Incredible Tales.

I just caught the trailers, and, if I don’t say so myself, the episode does look promising.

So do tune in this Sunday, 20 July, 10.00pm, Channel 5.

V-Moda Vibe Duo : A Review

Posted by Ruok On July - 10 - 2008

Since the 3G iPhone is launching tomorrow and will be available to us locally in a few months time, I thought its timely to write a review on this awesome pair of earphones.

The earphones comes in three colours, although the ones I got (which is the one in the picture) is only available through their website. Which means you must buy from them lah. They are called Gunmetal Rouge; I actually thought it was “Rogue” when I decided to buy them cuz it sounds like my nick.

Not.

Anyway, I digress. These earphones are really a good upgrade to the ones that come with the iPhone. Then again, any earphone would seem like an upgrade also. But why this is so cool is because they recessed the jack to fit nicely to your iPhone.

Wait a minute. I think the new 3G phones don’t need a recessed jack… anyhoo, I’m sure they would have come up with a similar earphone for the 3Gs. Once these earphones have burned in, I guarantee you’ll be blown away by their quality. With my mp3s at 192kps, I can still hear the subtle nuances in songs at normal volume.

Just remember to set your settings to “Min Bass”. For some reason, at default settings, the bass is damn overbearing. But its just nice once you set it to “Min Bass”. Go figure.

I’m not sure if these can beat a pair of Shure or other more expensive brands, but I can tell you I’m not inclined to try for “better” ones after having gotten these. 😀

A Public Apology

Posted by Ruok On July - 9 - 2008

I, Vincent Lee, do solemnly and sincerely apologise on this very day, for calling you, my personal blog, boring. I should have know better than to gauge your content by looking at your readership and number of people who comment. I should have known that its entirely possible for me to have written entries in which people will find it hard to comment about.

As for readership, I should have known that its probably due to me not actively promoting your existence and by no means should it be an indication that you are boring.

I hope you accept this apology and don’t eat up the posts that I’ve spent hours in the future as retaliation.

Peace out.
