Is this the reel life or is this just fantasy?

Got this off Tetanus.

Your Score: Semicolon

You scored 30% Sociability and 94% Sophistication!

Congratulations! You are the semicolon! You are the highest expression of punctuation; no one has more of a right to be proud. In the hands of a master, you will purr, sneering at commas, dismissing periods as beneath your contempt. You separate and connect at the same time, and no one does it better. The novice will find you difficult to come to terms with, but you need no one. You are secure in your elegance, knowing that you, and only you, have the power to mark the skill or incompetence of the craftsman.

You have no natural enemies; all fear you.

And never, NEVER let anyone tell you that you cannot appear in dialogue!

This reminded me of the time when I was creating names for my fantasy business empire. We would be known as the Punctuation Group, and we’ll have a consultancy arm called “Ellipsis Consulting”. And because I love what I do, we’ll have a production house as well, called “Exclamation Mark Productions”, or just “! Productions”.

Tag line for “Ellipsis Consulting” was “Because your business should never be a full stop”.
And tag line for “! Productions” was “Always something to shout about”.

Not bad eh?

A Happy Hour

Posted by Ruok On August - 28 - 2007

Read up about the place a couple of weeks back and since I was in the neighbourhood, I decided to head towards the tuckshop during my “recess” time yesterday.

Let me tell, you they serve the most awesome steak sandwich evar. The first bite itself was an unforgettable experience, the meat was juicy and succulent, and with the soft yet not so soft toasted focaccia, the whole bite just practically melts in your mouth. And the follow-up bite, this time with a taste of portobello in the mix, just leaves you wanting for more.

A Happy Hour

And the best part is that they have this chilled fermented barley drink called Asahi at only $4.50! Woot!

But really its not. The sandwich is really that good. The cheap beer is just the icing on the cake. 😀

(NB : All the nifty icons are taken from their funky website! )

Oh yeah, and its really great to be drinking beer on your lunch hour. 😉

“Mummy!” she spoke in chinese, “I recognise him! He’s the murderer!!” her finger pointed sorely at yours truly.

What can I say, I have killer looks. 😉

How Do You Talk To An Angel

Posted by Ruok On August - 20 - 2007

Recently, one of my favourite shower songs kept popping into my head and so I asked on my facebook, “How Do You Talk To An Angel?”, hoping to see if people still remember the song.

Here’s the response I got :

Terz : I don’t date angels. They’re not … naughty … enough.

Betty: i prefer not to date things with wings. cheekens on the other hand, are yummy when bbq-ed…

Kahkilang : Just be yourself!

Theresa : first, you need a ladder. second, breath mints.

Zeus : first you need to ask the angel’s father for permission lah!

Only Hermione & Jer got it right…

Hermione : it’s like trying to catch a falling star

Jer : ask the heights 😛

Although technically, it was The Heights who first asked the question :

All I want to say is I wasn’t really asking the question. After all, I’m rushing into a place where even angels fear to thread…

Three

Posted by Ruok On August - 17 - 2007

My website turns three today. And I think its time I get down to giving it a thorough face lift.

On another note, I am a bit disappointed that it didn’t managed to hit the 1 millionth hit mark when it turned three (still short of about 200K), and I’ll have to admit its partly my fault. After all, readership has been on the decline of late and its really no surprise as this website (and the blog) is all about my acting journey, which, you can plainly see, has kinda stagnated of late as well.

Which means I really have nothing to write about lah.

And the mountain of work left piled up after I returned from ICT sure isn’t helping things as well…it looks like a busy two more months on the horizon. On the bright side, I’m confident winter will be later than last year.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still optimistic about how things will turn out for the rest of the year. Certain aspects of my life are looking up already, but I’m not counting these chickens till they hatch. 😛

So do stick around, and don’t stop rooting for me hor. I ain’t throwing the towel yet.

The One About The Workshop

Posted by Ruok On August - 14 - 2007

Saw Mike at the *ahem* audition and pestered him for the photos he took on our last day.

Engrossed
That’s Mike taking a picture of him taking a picture of us being engrossed in a performance by one of our mates. You can just about make out my ear.

"Tis the east, and Juliet's the Sun"
That’s errm me, wondering who stole my cheese. And cupcake. And what not. Seriously, I don’t think I can remember which part of the monologue this was.

Method Actors! &Actresses :P
That’s us, with a few notable missing mates. Suitcase No. 2 Andrea was in the workshop as well, but I think it finally got too busy for her with filming Deal Or No Deal to join us anymore.

Aww ain't she the cutest thang?
And of course, Mike just had to take a picture of me looking adoringly at Debbie. Yeah, I know what you are thinking. If that’s how I look when I looked at someone adoringly, its no wonder I don’t get the girls. >.<

Damn If I Do, Damn If I Don’t

The thing about auditioning for a TVC about erectile dysfunction is that you can’t really say you really, really want to do this ad.

I’m still in two minds over whether this will be a good thing for me if I do get the job. -_-”

Ah well.

Acting As “Yang Xiao Lang”

Posted by Ruok On August - 10 - 2007

I got the call during my last few days of ICT and was really reluctant to take up the assignment. I know I was going to be really tired after my ICT and I have already felt the onset of a flu coming. Moreover, it was for a serial that has been getting bad reviews currently. But they told me it was the director from Happily EverAfter that had requested for me and since she was the one who recommended me for the upgrade, I felt obligated to return her the favour.

And since I was on ICT, I only knew I had gotten the invites to the nuffnang event when I came back home. Which means I had to forgo my free tickets. >.<

Luckily, the role actually turned out to be quite meaty. Its a named character, and it really feels like I’m a guest star in this episode, rather than just a bit player. But I guess I haven’t been acting for too long, and my rustiness shows, especially since my last acting practice have been rather stage oriented.

I had to act with a cough and a sore throat too, and that, I felt was the greatest hindrance to my performance as half the time (or most of the time) I really had no control over my vocals. So much so that the soundman kept asking me to speak up, but if I did, I would be coughing, and well, so on and so forth. -_-”

This was the first time I had to act when I’m suffering from flu. Which only highlights even more to me the importance of health to an actor. But despite all that, I still had a blast as the character was really interesting to play. My only gripe was that the script was too cliche and I really needed to be on top form to ace the performance, which as you can see, I was obviously not.

Oh well, we’ll see how it goes.

Watch for it, KinshipII, Episode 30.

(Don’t know why wordpress suddenly cannot type chinese. Anyone knows why? :()
