Writing On The Wall

Posted by Ruok On April - 10 - 2007

My overseas friend just told me a most interesting story :-

A few months ago, a huge multinational corporation told its employees that due to its funding of a welfare program for the blue-collar workers, the company would have to cut pay across the board. This pay cut, would, prima facie, increase the corporation’s coffers by a whopping 40%, which is very much needed to fund the welfare program. The employees, pleased by the management’s nobler intentions, went along with it.

However, when the details of the welfare program was out, many were disappointed that the program didn’t seem to help the blue-collar workers very much. And so they had a few of their representatives approach the management to see if the program could be made even better. After all, they did had to suffer a pay cut for this, might as well make it more worthwhile.

Little did the employees knew another bombshell was coming. Just weeks later after the proposed pay cut was approved, the management then informed the employees that due to threat of not retaining and attracting crème de la crème to the corporation, they had decided to give themselves a 60% pay rise. Even though the said management is already paid much more than their counterparts in other larger multinational corporations.

Hmm, doesn’t this story sounds oddly familiar?

Hey there:) Watched your showreel and liked it. hahaha, good that you don’t have a put on accent, and you’re being true to your singaporean roots. I really like the bioterrorism video!

Don’t think you remember me, but you’ve came to my blog before back in 2005 to comment on my entry which got Tomorrow-ed. It was an entry about me making up my own words in Hokkien because of the influence from reading Singaporean blogs. ehehe, silly times.

but anyway, yeah, i still remember your nickname and of course, the fact that you’re an actor helps. heh, well keep it up. your struggles(vouching for auditions and stuff) reminds me of sheylara.com. You might know her.

and i find it so amusing that even actors like watching heroes. i love heroes too:D
