My Reelity

For the past few weeks, my 2 and a half year old monitor has been giving me problems. This is the normal display :

But if I were to change resolution or switch off the monitor and turn it back on again, the display will become like this :

And the problem gets progressively worse as the days go by. Sometimes, when I start my computer, I will get the above garbled display again and I have to turn off the computer and let it rest for 15 minutes. Then it became 30 minutes. Then as the days go by, 30 minutes became an hour and up till recently, the hour became 6 hours and the final straw was when I had to wait for more than 24 hours before the display became normal again…

At first I thought it was the graphic card, which had just ran out of warranty. This is a really bad time to be changing graphic cards, as the mid range and budget direct 10x capable ones are scheduled to be out around March next year, making any non Direct 10x card purchased now to have a four month life span before becoming obsolete again. And as I was pretty sure it was the graphic card, I spent hours researching on what to buy.

Fortunately, before I took the plunge to get another card, some friends suggested to me that it might be the monitor that was wonky and luckily I heeded their advise and double checked, and indeed it turned out that it was the monitor. So this is now my new baby :

20″ Widescreen goodness!! I had a look at the available 22″s but decided not to go for them as the image quality is really much poorer, according to my spoilt eyes.

Yeah my eyes are so spoilt, I had to get them these new crutches :

On another note, I really hate the way they did up the black Spidey costume for Spiderman 3. Its like they just paint the old costume black!! So not like the one from the comic lor. And don’t make me go on about how they killed the whole original Gwen Stacey storyline. AAARRGGGHHHHH!
